WHEN ROLLING OUT THE PASTE
If you notice bubbles while rolling out the paste, pop them with a pin right away (before you reach the desirable thickness).
WHEN SMOOTHING THE CAKE
Sometimes after covering a cake with sugarpaste and during smoothing, you will notice bubbles (pockets of air between the cake and the paste). Pop them with a pin as soon as you see them.
If you notice bubbles while rolling out the paste, pop them with a pin right away (before you reach the desirable thickness).
- If you pop the bubbles after reaching the proper thickness, you will end up with dents.
- If you pop them before reaching the proper thickness (when the paste is still quite thick), you will be able to remove the dents by rolling out the paste more.
- If you don't want the pin holes to be visible, pop them from the underside of the paste.
