Size: 8 cm x 4.5 (with the tail); 6.5 x 4.5 (without the tail).
You can make the otter sitting (same as the Valentine Kitties - ) and stick the tail at the back ;)

Cute Otter

- small ball tool
- scalpel
- small heart cutter (I used a 13 mm one)
- small teardrop cutter (I used a 18 mm one)
- round cutter (similar size as the body; I used a 3 cm one; or use a scalpel)
- glue brush
- dusting brushes

Flower paste (gum paste)*:
- brown - 37 g
- red - 1 g
- cream - 1 g
- black - 1 g
Edible glue

*You can use sugarpaste (fondant) with CMC or modelling paste instead.

Step 1

Cute Otter

Head - 30 g. Body - 5 g.
Both the head and the body are slightly flattened.
Use a small ball tool to make eye indentations.

Step 2

Cute Otter

Roll two small balls of black flower paste and stick them in the eye indentations. Roll a small black oval and stick it on as the nose.

Roll out the cream flower paste very thin (as thin as you can without it tearing). Cut out a small teardrop shape and stick it on the belly. Trim the tip of the teardrop shape.
--> I didn't use any cornflour underneath when rolling out the paste and didn't use any glue to stick the teardrop shape to the belly. Since I didn't use any corn flour underneath, the underside of the paste was sticky (no need to use glue). If you use glue, dark marks might show from underneath the cream paste.

Once the head and body get quite firm attach them together with glue and a short piece of a cocktail stick.

Step 3

Cute Otter

Roll two 5 mm balls o brown paste. Make indentations with a small ball tool. Roll small balls of black paste. Stick them in those indentations. Trim them from one side.

Step 4

Cute Otter

Attach the ears to the head with a small amount of glue.
Roll out the red paste to about 2 mm thick. Cut out a heart. Dust it. Stick it to the belly.

Step 5

Cute Otter

Roll an 8 mm ball of brown paste. Form a tapering down towards one end sausage. Curve it and flatten it slightly. Cut the wider end off with a round cutter (size similar to the body; or use a scalpel).
To make the legs, roll 5 mm balls of brown paste. Form short tapering towards one end sausages and stick them on as shown in the photo.

Step 6

Cute Otter

Roll out the white flower paste very thin (as thin as you can without it tearing). Let it dry from both sides for a few minutes. Cut out tiny circles with a piping nozzle. Pick them up from the board with a fine brush (with a small amount of glue) and stick them to the eyes.

Step 7

Cute Otter

Dust the topper a little bit with brown dust....

...TA-DA! ;)
