Which glue you choose depends on what you want to stick together. Below you'll find general tips. For more information, click on the links.
Edible glue is the most popular choice. It's used to:
stick pieces of sugar paste together
attach sticks and florist wires
attach decorations (f.ex. dragees) to the cake.
It will work only if at least one of the surfaces that you are trying to stick together is still soft (not dry).
Softened paste is quicker and easier to make in smaller batches, than royal icing.
Royal icing is easier to apply on larger surfaces (f.ex. with a palette knife). If you use a piping bag you can also apply it in a form of dots or thin lines.
