This cake topper is very quick & easy to make :) Perfect for last minute cakes!
scalpel
knife
dresden tool
small rolling pin
small ball tool (or frilling stick)
wheel tool (or texture with a cocktail stick)
wooden skewer (bbq stick)
mini palette knife (or use the back of a knife)
star cutter: 3 cm (or similar size; or use a different shape cutter)
brushes:
glue - small round, medium round
dusting - small round, medium round
painting - very fine round
non-stick board
paper towel
Flower paste* or sugarpaste** or a FP/SP mix*** or modelling paste:
white - 104 g
black - 1 g
red - 12 g
green - 2 g
grey - 2 g
Edible glue
Dust colours: pink, red
* Flower paste = gum paste
** Sugarpaste = fondant; if you want to use it to make cake toppers you need to add CMC it.
*** FP/SP mix = a mix of flower paste and sugar paste; if you want to use it to make cake toppers you need to add CMC to it.

Instead of using glue to stick the start, I suggest you steam the underside of the paste to make it sticky. That way you won't get any glue marks showing through the thin, white paste. You can use a steamer or a kettle. Be careful not to burn yourself.
If you decide to use glue, make sure that you apply a very thin layer on the whole surface of the paste. You can also let the star dry for a little longer - that way the glue won’t show through that much. Don't let it dry out completely though, otherwise you won't be able to stick the star properly to the sweater.
