Make a tunnel with a clean, dry stick. Use the sharp tip. Push it in to about half way (rotary motion). You can either:
* Before you put the cake topper upright in the cake dummy, make a tunnel in the cake dummy with stick (same thickness you used in the cake topper). Push it in and take it out a couple of times to widen the tunnel. That way you will be able to easily take the cake topper out later. The tunnel needs to be straight.
- take it out (also rotary motion) and put it back in when you attach the cake topper to the cake,
- or you can leave it in, and once the cake topper is very firm, continue working on a cake dummy*.
