1.

Roll a smooth 8 g ball of brown flower paste*.

Instead of weighing the paste you can use the template 1 to determine the size of the ball.

* You don’t have to use the same type of paste as me. I used flower paste (gum paste) because it holds the shape well and dries out fast. I wanted the body to become firm quickly so I could attach the head. If the body is still soft when you attach the head it will sink. If you want to thicken the paste and speed up the drying time, add some CMC.

Form a teardrop shape (2)*.

* The numbers in brackets in this tutorial refer to the templates you should use if you want to check the shape.

Keep on pressing the wider side to the board and rotating it around its axis. That way you will create a flat bottom. You can compare the shape with the template (3).
