3. FILL HOLES 

Sometimes after covering a cake you will notice bubbles (pockets of air between the cake and the sugarpaste). You can pop them with a pin. Some pin holes will disappear after smoothing the cake, but some won't. If you want to achieve a perfect finish, fill those holes with softened paste.
