Never store cake toppers in airtight containers. The paste can reabsorb moisture from the enclosed environment and become soft.

You can store them in cardboard cake boxes - they allow the air to circulate, so the cake topper can dry out properly.

Never leave a finished piece in direct sunlight. It causes the colours to fade.
