The height of the topper: 10 cm
- 13 mm ball tool
- 9 mm ball tool
- Small rolling pin
- 6 mm cutter or nozzle
- 2 mm cutter
- 15 mm heart cutter
- round cutter (diameter about 4 cm)
- Cocktail stick
Sugarpaste (with added CMC):
- 92 g white
- 27 g black sugarpaste
- 1 g red
- 5 mm ball
- 1 g ball
CMC – keep on adding it gradually to the sugarpaste until you're happy with the thickness. The CMC makes the sugarpaste hold its shape and makes it easier for you to model. I add more to the body and head than to the rest of the body parts.
Roll a 30 g ball of white sugarpaste. Form a teardrop shape. Flatten the top slightly. Apply a little amount of glue on a cocktail stick and insert it into the body in rotary motion, all the way down. If the body loses its shape during inserting – reshape it. Use a 9 mm ball tool to make an indentation at the back of the body for the tail.
Roll a 5 g ball of black sugarpaste. Use your little finger to make a narrowing in the centre by rolling the middle part. Flatten the top part of the leg. Create a foot by pinching to create an edge. Repeat this step for the second leg.
Roll a 3 g ball of black sugarpaste. Form a tapering down towards one end sausage. Flatten it slightly. Repeat this step for the second arm.
Stick the legs and the arms to the body as shown in the photo.
Roll an 8 mm ball of black sugarpaste and stick it in the indentation at the back of the body.
Use a 13 mm and a 9 mm ball tool to create indentations as shown in the photo.
Roll two 11 mm balls of black sugarpaste and form teardrop shapes (the exact amount depends on the depth of the created indentations; check the size before sticking the element on). Use your finger to smooth the black sugarpaste in the indentation.
Use a 9 mm ball tool to make indentations for the eyes.
Roll two 6 mm balls of white flower paste (the exact amount depends on the depth of the created indentations; check the size before sticking the element on). Stick them in the previously created indentations and flatten slightly. Roll out a small amount of black flower paste very thin. Use the 6 mm cutter/nozzle to cut out two circles. Stick them on the eyes as shown in the photo.
Roll a 4 g ball of black sugarpaste. Use a 13 mm ball tool to make an indentation as shown in the photo. Stick a 9 mm ball of white sugarpaste in the indentation. Use the ball tool to gradually spread the sugarpaste inside the ear (circular moves). Use a cutter to create a curved cut as shown in the photo. Repeat this step for both ears.
Stick the ears onto the head.
Roll out 1 g of red sugarpaste to about 3 mm thick. Use a heart cutter to cut out a heart shape. I wasn’t happy with the shape so I used my fingers to stretch the heart a little (pressing, smoothing and gentle pulling).
Apply a small amount of glue on the panda’s arms. Stick the heart on. Roll out a small amount of white flower paste to about 1 mm thick. Use a 6 mm nozzle to cut out two circles and use a 2 mm nozzle to cut out 6 circles. Stick them on the panda’s feet as shown in the photo.
